Both my children have been a part of the Scout group. They have done alot of things which they wouldn’t have done if not attending Scouts. The leaders/volunteers do a fantastic job of providing a jam packed itinerary with a wide range of activities. Thank you.

Cubs, Scouts and now Explorers has provided my son with experiences he wouldn’t get elsewhere. He’s thoroughly enjoyed everything and is now completing his DofE Gold through Scouting. He is also an Assistant Leader with Beavers. We are very grateful for the opportunities provided by the scouting community.

Being in the Scouts has helped my children develop confidence and resilience through hands-on experiences and challenges that push them out of their comfort zones.

The Scouts have enabled my daughter to move beyond traditional gender stereotypes by giving her the confidence to take on challenges and leadership roles. She has learned practical skills, independence, and teamwork, enabling her to see she can do anything she sets her mind to.

A fantastic group. Superb leaders who are always really well organised, proactive and set a wonderful standard of behaviour and kindness with the children. The effort the leaders put in on a voluntary basis is quite unbelievable.

This is a fantastic team that goes the extra mile in planning and providing fantastic experiences for our children.

The programme is well thought out and safely delivered, offering children and YP with age appropriate fun experiences that help with developing their independence, self care skills, confidence, social skills including team work, and life time memories.

As a regular parent helper I have found the team very welcoming, friendly, supportive and a joy to work with.

Explorer’s have opened up a whole new world of opportunities for our daughter. The commitment and enthusiasm of the leaders is inspirational and commendable. Our daughter is proud to be an Explorer! A big ‘thank you’ to all involved.

My son has made lots of new friends and gained skills and experiences whilst in cubs. It is very organised and has amazing opportunities such as trips, sleepovers, cooking on fires, orienteering, bike riding, climbing, ice skating, how to give first aid, history and so much more. The leaders are knowledgeable, kind and helpful. I am so grateful for all their hard work!

Squirrels is a truly fantastic place for young minds to grow and thrive. The children are encouraged to learn real-world lessons and understand how teamwork plays a key role in their personal development and success. Claire is wonderful with the children here in Cockermouth, and I’ve seen a real difference in my son — not only in his confidence but also in the meaningful connections he’s made since joining. It’s been amazing to watch him flourish, and I’m so grateful to Claire and the team.

For the past few years, we’ve got involved with Beavers and loved every minute of it! We’ve enjoyed fantastic walks, kayaking, hard play, camping, arts and crafts, sports, games, skills nights, bonfires, fire and food, and more. Our boys have learned so much, had great fun, grown in confidence and made friends. The beavers team is fantastic and put a lot of effort into everything! Thank you for all of your hard work. We hope to be part of the Cockermouth Scouts community for a while yet!
